Siem Reap travelogue

Date: 21 - 24th June 2009
Location: Siem Reap, Cambodia
Participant: Me and darling
Calefare: Peter and ah Kun (not in photo)

0430, sis sent us to KL sentral to take skybus to LCCT. I had a small shock when sis told me that for international flight, we should check in 2 hours earlier. After checking the terms and condition behind the booking ticket, realize that 45mins is enough. relief~

We had our breakfast at Marrybrown, checked in and voila, we are on the plane with mask

2 hours sleeping in the flight, and we reached the airport of Siem Reap. A small, clean and beautiful airport.

Coming out from the airport, we were thinking to change some riel. There is one counter in the airport but when we see the rate, it's 1USD to 3800riel. The rate is not too good, so we didn't exchange. Once we stepped out from the airport, there is another exchange counter and the rate was 1usd to 4000riel! Luckily we didn't change the money in the airport.

We were surprise to see darling's name and my name at the arrival gate. Apparently, the hotel has the service to fetch us from the airport to the hotel, but we were unaware of this service. In the end, we follow the tuk tuk driver to our hotel.

This is our tuk tuk driver, Sor Jin. We booked his service thru here

The rate is 13usd per day, with lots of cold towels and mineral water provided.
Upon arriving our hotel, Angkor Star, Sorjin told us that he will be unavailable for today and his brother Soryar will be our driver for the day. However, he will drive a car today. And the best thing is he charge us only 15usd instead of the normal 25usd! Dirt cheap dirt cheap!

While waiting for Soryar to fetch us at 0930, we wander around the area, taking pictures with the newly opened Maybank there. And we went into the newly opened KFC ending up snacking on popcorn chicken and the free pepsi provided by KFC.

We were surprise that Soryar came with a minivan and off we go to Tonle Sap, the largest lake in SEA.

The shops along the road

The boat fee cost us 15usd per pax. Heartache!!! Well, since we are already there, we should just go for it :)

The boatman's children

On the lake, it's the floating village. The houses are built on the boat or platform that are floating.

We stop by a large boat, it has a restaurant, a small exhibition room, a small crocodile farm, a small area that rear catfish and souvenir shop.

A boathouse is very small, but the whole family stays in there. Salute. The life there is not easy. Especially, with the very very very hot weather.
The village is basically a fishing village and from what I see, they sleep on their free time :P, well, I see a lot of people sleeping in their boathouse.

I should sleep now. Stay tune for the 2nd post

Siem Reap, I am coming!

Darling and me will head to Siem Reap, Cambodia tomorrow early morning. Not too excited about it though... After hearing ah kun said it's a boring place with dust and heat. Well, even Malaysia is dusty and damn hot now, what can we expect?

We haven't pack our baggage, haven't get camera from sis, haven't really get ready for it...coz we are just too lazy... precaution for AH1N1, yes, we did !

the travel plan? I can only see angkor in the travel guide... other places? Maybe Maybank branch in Siem Reap and meet up with Peter and ah kun there. Smart me downloaded the itinerary from the travel agencies and I think we can just refer to it :)

Will need to get out of the house to the bank branch to pick up the LO, do laundry and what else???

When school reopen, I don't think I will have the luxury to laze whole day in house anymore!!! However, when I do nothing, I feel like very fei~ when I am very busy, I do hope for the fei time! Contradictions!!!!!!! Oh, I am just too bored~

Siem Reap! I AM COMING!!!

Please help this child

This is not a hoax, or spam. This is what happen to my colleague in the same company. Although I do not know her (my other colls know), but I do sympathize the baby.

Please do a kind favour by just donate RM5 for the baby's operation fund.

Would You Do That?

Loke Kai Xin was diagnosed with Biliary Atresia when she was three months old and a Kasai procedure (hepatoportoenterostomy) was done way back in February 2009. Unfortunately, the procedure did not cure her condition and she was advised to go for a liver transplant as her last and only option.
Due to under weight, she was advised by UM Specialist Centre (UMSC), Malaysia to seek medical help from Singapore. After the first pre-assessment at National University Hospital of Singapore (NUH), both parents were found to be suitable candidate donors for Kai Xin. Both parents were in NUH on 1st of June 2009 for the second pre-assessment to confirm and determine their suitability to be the donors.
The total cost including post-operations and follow up is expected to be around RM500K which is equivalent to 200K Singapore Dollars (pre-assessment, liver transplant, post operations, follow ups & etc) or more due to her age.
This amount is just too expensive for them to bear in full; therefore they are appealing for your help.

Name: Loke Kai Xin
Bank: Maybank Berhad
A/C No.: 1-14013-213313
Email: hueyjing@hotmail.com
(email address of the mother)

Let's see how many RM5 are needed to reach RM500,000/=
The total amount of donation received up to now is RM38435/=
We still need RM461565/= (500000-38435).
Therefore, we need 92313 people more who are willing to donate RM5 each to
MAKE THIS HAPPEN!
