Hello May - my Mt KK expedition

It has been so long since my last update. Been busy and lazy recently, as usual.

It has been only 11th May and many things happened.
Little did I expected, 1st of May is an anniversary date to me again.
BN won the election to rule the country again - what a shame.

And so on the 5th, I've just came back from my Mt KK expidition with Reagan and Aaron. It was a great trip. I never have thought that I can make it to the top. I wasn't really thinking that much when doing the trail, just keep walking.

We started to hike on 6th May after breakfast at Mersilau Nature resort, the breakfast was really good, as I wasn't even hungry until we reached Laban rata. There were tired moments but I just stop like for 10 odd seconds to catch a breath or let my heart beat pumps slower before I make my move again. We reached the meeting point of mersilau and timpohon at 1.30pm which the porters and other hikers said we were fast. We didn't stop for lunch break as we weren't hungry at all. Just wanted to hike as fast as possible to reach Laban rata in order to rest. We then hike another 2 hours to Laban Rata, reaching at 2.45pm. I guess that was really fast for us via Mersilau route. From what I've heard people reached like around 5pm. And so we had our late lunch at laban rata and aaron treated me to have a super big size fried rice... I didnt even finish half of it. so guilty of me. Then, we checked ourselves in the dorm and took bath with icy cold water, and tried to sleep. I didn't really get to sleep though, guess it was all the excitement. Surprisingly I didn't feel any muscle pain or what not even until the next day.

We woke up at 2am for the summit hike. I didn't actually get to sleep much though - excitement still there. So had our breakfast, prepare ourselves with all the winter wear, head light and off we go. It was kinda hard at first because the body has already been rested. Need to fuel them up again for the hike. Can't really see much as it was pitch dark with only our headlights. All I remember was there are numerous flights of stairs and rocks for me to climb. Hands have to be in action to make the climb as well. Maybe it was cold, or my body got lazy, I took quite a number of rests compared to the previous day. And so Aaron and Reagan went ahead first. Our guide, Din was with me all times. Haha, quite worthy right, I have a personal guide. The hike to the peak is kinda scary though, as in need to cling on to the rope and walk by dangerous cliff. Nevertheless, it was dark enough for me not to keep checking on the cliff.

All I can remember about the summit hike is keep going up. There weren't any really plain grounds at all. Each 10 or 20 steps I had to stop and catch deep breath. I tried to make more then 10 steps each time though, broadening the intervals. The stars were really bright and beautiful at that hour. I think I saw the milky way, again. It wasn't that prominent though. I was really motivated when I saw the Donkey ears' peak when it was still dark. I know I'm not that slow. Kind of impressed with myself with all the counting down motivation to reach the peak. When I was halfway to Low's Peak, the sky started to get bright, not sunny though. Aaron and Reagan were already there like maybe for ten minutes. Actually I thought to happily hug them but I didn't. I reached the Peak at 5.57am yay! Aaron started to descent and got Reagan to help me to take pics with the Low's peak sign board. When we were descending, I saw a couple where the guy proposed to the girl at the peak with a diamond ring! What a good idea.

After taking some pics we started to descend. And yes, the guys go ahead first because I was really slow at descending and luckily Din was there to help me, even taking pics as well. I was really shocked to see the trails I've walked to go up. Have to grab the rope and my leg against the rocks to climb down. What I have done? LOL

Anyway, back to Laban rata for breakkie, took some rest and started to pack and check ourselves out. Thanks to Aaron for waiting for me to descend. The forest in Timpohon was not as sunny due to the tall trees, so kinda scary for me. Timpohon was really a harder trail from my point of view - steep ascending stairs and rocks. And finally we reached the Timpohon gate at 3pm, by this time, my knee really hurts although I wore knee guard. I think this is a fast timing as well, or maybe normal because descending for me is a harder task than ascending.

So the park van took us to KK park for our tea break and driver sent us back to KK town to check in to our hotel for the day. We stop by halfway to try the wild boar satay - Aaron's treat. Taste quite nice though. And finally checking in to hotel after 1 hour jam on the road due to off work hours. Got a nice warm water bath and head out for seafood dinner. Aaron's treat again. It's good to know a big boss. haha. I think I slept around 930pm, and really had a good rest on a nice comfy bed.

I headed back to KL on the next morning and the guys extended another day's stay. And someone pop up at the airport to fetch me yay! With a warm fish burger as my lunch.
